Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if counselling is right for me?

The best way is to get in touch. Either give me a ring, drop an email or book in an introductory call. I’m happy to answer any questions that you have, and it is a chance for you to get to know me a bit better. Find out how you feel about it, and decide what to do from there. The call is free and there is no obligation.

Counselling may just be one session, a few sessions or longer term. It can also be weekly, fortnightly, or less frequently. We will discuss this in your first session, and we will review it regularly to make sure that progress is being made. The decision is always yours.

Everything you say is confidential and remains between yourself and I. It is your time and space to be with someone who is there for you. Of course, it is up to you, if you talk to others about what you have discussed in your sessions.

There are a few exceptions to the principle of confidentiality, and that is if you or others close to you are at a risk of significant harm. However, I would always try to talk to you about this first.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, which means I am fully qualified and abide by their ethical framework. This helps give clients the confidence that I am always working to the best ethical and professional standards.

It is understandable that you feel nervous. I remember how nervous I was before my first counselling session too, and I think pretty much everyone feels the same way. I’m here to put you at ease, and make you feel as comfortable as possible. We will work to your pace and talk about what you want to talk about. I commit to fully listening, offering compassion and not passing judgement.

If you feel ready to take the next step, then you can call or WhatsApp me on 07958 313434.  Alternatively email me at hello@counsellingwithnicky.co.uk, or book a free introductory call directly via my Calendly link on my home page.

I will get back to you within 24 hours, and we can agree the best next step. Typically, this is a 20 minute introductory call to see if counselling could work, and whether I am the right therapist for you. If either of us feel the fit isn’t right, then I’ll help point you in the right direction for alternative support.

No problem, drop me an email via hello@counsellingwithnicky.co.uk or book in for a free introductory call so we can talk it through together.
